Managing access to the Vertice app in Microsoft Teams

Once you've set up the Teams integration and verified it is working, you'll need to ensure your users can access and use the app. To do this, the app must be installed to their Teams client and linked to their Vertice account.

You can allow users to install and link themselves or manage either or both of these processes yourself.

It does not matter which combination of methods you use to install and link accounts so you can be flexible in how you approach this. To keep the ongoing management scalable, you may want to consider which combination works best for your organization. For example, configuring Teams so that the app is pre-installed for a group of users who are then encouraged to link themselves allows you to adhere to your organization's security policies without much manual input from your IT team.

Allow users to install and link themselves

Get started using the Vertice app in Microsoft Teams guides users through self-install and self-linking. We recommend sharing this guide as part of your initial rollout and to new users as they join your organization.

Note

You may need to enable permissions in the Teams admin center to allow users to install apps themselves. See Microsoft's overview of app management settings in the Teams documentation for more information.

Keep in mind, while you can control who is able to install the app, users will always have the option to link themselves via the Vertice Teams app.

Manage installation and/or linking yourself

Installation

You can pre-install the app for a specific group of users in the Teams admin center. You can find instructions for this in Preinstall apps for your users in the Teams documentation.

Linking

Vertice can automatically match and link all eligible users with their equivalent account in Teams or you can choose which users to link yourself.

Allow automatic matching

All users who have both a login for Vertice and Teams using the same email will be matched and linked. Once they are linked, they can begin using the app.

  1. Go to SettingsIntegrations

  2. Click View on the Microsoft Teams tile

  3. Enable Automatically connect users with matching emails

Automatic matching occurs every day at 00:00 UTC. Any newly added Vertice users will automatically be matched and linked in the next sync. Users will stay in Pending status until they have both installed the app and linked their account.

Note

A user's Vertice email must be identical to their Teams email for a match to be successful. In the event of match failures, double-check and address any discrepancies either by updating their details in Vertice or Teams and then wait for the next automatic sync. Contact Vertice Support if issues persist.

Match users manually

This method allows you to choose which users are matched and linked.

This is also a useful method if you need to modify an existing match after an automatic match failure or if you'd like to match two accounts with different email addresses.

  1. Go to SettingsIntegrations

  2. Click View on the Microsoft Teams tile

  3. Click the pencil button next to the users you'd like to manually match

  4. Find the user in the drop-down menu under Search

  5. Click Link to confirm and link the user
